606 fresh cases, active nCov figures cross 2,000 in Vadodara

VADODARA: The city and district registered yet another major surge with 606 fresh cases on Tuesday. The number of active cases have now crossed 2,000. The number of positive cases detected on a single day crossed the number registered on May 26 last year.

On May 26 last year, the city and district registered 575 cases from 9,521 tests. On Tuesday, the new cases were detected from 10,061 tests performed in the 24 hours ending on Tuesday evening.

The new cases were spread fairly evenly across the city on Tuesday. These include 143 from the west zone, 138 from the south zone, 137 from the north and 133 from the east. The areas of the district outside city limits registered 55 cases.

The active cases now stand at 2,080 including 141 hospitalised persons even as all others are in home isolation. The number of serious patients on ventilators also increased with eight persons on ventilators or BIPAP machines against five on Monday.

As many as 17 others were on ICU without ventilation devices and 55 others needed oxygen support. Sixty-one patients were admitted but had only mild symptoms.
