60 surnames owed millions of pounds in unclaimed inheritance

Families in Merseyside could be owed millions of pounds in unclaimed estates according to a list kept by the government.

Records kept by Her Majesty's Treasury at Gov.uk have revealed there are 60 unclaimed estates with links to Liverpool and the Wirral - and you could be entitled to claim them as your own.

These unclaimed estates mean that millions of pounds could be up for grabs if you can prove you are the rightful beneficiary to the estate.

When people die without making a will, they leave behind everything they owned, including money, property, business, cars and land.

If no one comes forward to claim it then the money could disappear into the government’s accounts.

The Treasury keeps a list of unclaimed assets - and a significant number of them have links to Merseyside.

How can I collect an unclaimed estate?

There is a 30 year time limit for any estate to be claimed after the death of the person who leaves it behind.

Once you have established if you are able to make a claim all you need to do send a family tree that shows how you are related to the person whose estate you are trying to claim.
