PEDESTRIAN.TV has teamed up with American Express to give you access to more travel, music and entertainment, dining, offers and rewards.

You always start off strong, typing in ‘best food near me’, telling yourself that you’ll try something new this time, and yet, you end up falling back to your usual haunt.
If your tastebuds feel called out like mine, you’ve come to the right place. I took the liberty of deep-diving into my FYP and finding the best restaurants and bars for you, and yes, I was starving by the end of it.
Before I get into my picks, I have some info for you connoisseurs. It turns out that with an American Express Card, you are eligible to earn Points, and can also take advantage of Amex Offers when dining out at your favourite restaurants, bars and cafés. American Express delicious. Month Out is happening right now in May, where Amex Card Members can redeem the AEDMO Card Member Offer across more than 55,000 restaurants in Australia. Let’s just say – there are lots of options to pick from (*exclusions and T&Cs apply).
Rest assured, I’m not picking just any viral places, though. No, no, it has to fit my three main criteria points, as there’s no greater betrayal than paying for bad food.
- The offering must be unique in some way.
- The food must be good value for money.
- The portion size must be decent (no micro-servings here).
Let’s take a bite into the viral food across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, shall we?

Sydney viral food near me
TokyoTaco, Newtown
Uniqueness: Sushi Tacos
Price average: $15 per plate
Portion size: Medium
These sushi tacos have been driving me crazy with food envy, so of course, I had to track them down. Turns out they’re right here in Sydney, at TokyoTaco in Newtown. The cuisine combines Japanese and Mexican food together (hence the name). Why choose one when you can have both? Fights between partners at dinner time are now solved.
On the taco front, choose from miso-baked salmon, smokey soy chicken, pulled pork or perfect plant. Or, you can build your own if you’re feeling extra adventurous. The team also makes sushi nachos in miso salmon, slow-baked beef, adobo jackfruit, or spicy aji salmon. There are even sushi tostadas that come in spicy watermelon, braised beef or tofu flavour. See, mum, I knew I wasn’t living up to my full potential.
The good news is that TokyoTaco is a part of American Express delicious. Month Out.*

Lana celebrates Sydney’s cultural diversity by combining Italian and Asian cuisines. Known on TikTok for its fusion-tasting menu, your tastebuds won’t be able to decide which country it’s in. Think whipped tofu, black garlic butter focaccia, Bangalow pork belly “char siu,” and even an Australian twist: “Milo-misu” tres leches.
You get value for high-end dining at Lana’s. I recommend going with six people so you can snag the $123 per person deal. Hello, work dinner to impress your boss. Or, if you want to spoil a special someone, then the $159 per person chef selection will win them over. I know I would be! Even better? Lana is a part of the American Express delicious. Month Out.*

@depotadventures if you like #whisky, you're a glutton for choice in #Melbourne when it comes to the best #whiskybar #MelbourneReopening #tourtok ♬ original sound – Depot Adventures
Voted Best Whisky Bar 2018 by Australia Bartender’s Magazine, The Elysian Whisky Bar still lives up to its name. How? By serving unique whiskies from around the world — which is why Melburnians on TikTok can’t get enough. In fact, The Elysian Whisky Bar opens around 10 bottles’ each week (!!). Damn, that’s a lot of whisky.
The good news is that its whisky is mainly sourced from independent bottlers, such as Gordon & Macphail in Scotland, Sansibar in Germany, Eiling Lim in Malaysia and Acorn in Japan. This means that you get to support the little guys by having a glass (or two). Who’s with me??

If you saw Nonda on TikTok and thought it was in Japan, I wouldn’t blame you. Famous for its modern twist on Japanese cuisine, you won’t have to leave Brisbane to try the best of both worlds. No passport needed, just your appetite.
Start off with the whipped edamame avocado dip and sashimi taco, refreshing your palate with its renowned Coffin Bay oysters. What’s the twist, you might wonder? Chilli ponzu and chives, of course. Now it’s time for the main course. Choose from beef short ribs with a soy glaze, Mooloolaba King Prawn spaghetti and even grilled lamb chops with hatcho miso.
Pair your mains with a pork katsu sando and snapper tempura — but don’t worry, there’s always room for dessert. Don’t forget to enjoy the coconut sorbet with lychee and raspberry granita to soothe that sweet tooth.
If you need extra temptation, Nondo is a part of American Express delicious. Month Out.* Winner, winner, Asian fusion dinner.
