Yup, we are going to rank some kickers. We are doing so because kickers are important. Ask anyone from Chicago how they feel about kickers and you’ll probably get some curse words mixed into the conversation. It’s amazing that the NFL can’t find 32 good kickers. Quarterbacks make sense, but there have to be 32 people in this world who can consistently kick a ball through the uprights. We know that’s not the case, though. Kickers are people too, so let’s get right to it.
Stephen Gostkowski
Gostkowski is so important to the Patriots that they might even franchise him. He won’t go down as the greatest kicker in New England history because Adam Vinatieri is stuck in that spot, but Gostkowski has been better than Vinatieri in almost all facets of the kicking game except kicking unmakeable field goals through the snow.
Jason Myers
Myers is coming off a Pro Bowl and is only 27 years old. He was one of the best things about the Jets last season. That probably says more about the Jets than anything else that can be said about New York’s second team.
Robbie Gould
I bet the Bears would love to have Gould back.
Matt Bryant
Bryant is 43 years old, but he should find a job somewhere. Again, it’s tough to find 32 good kickers.
Dan Bailey
Bailey made 75 percent of his field goal attempts in Minnesota last year. He will probably end up somewhere by the time the season starts.
Sebastian Janikowski
Seabass has to be on any kicker list. It’s an unofficial rule.
