6 things we learned from the new ‘Game of Thrones’ season 8 trailer

WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN’T CAUGHT UP TO SEASON 7 YET.

OMG IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!! We’re nearly a month away from the final season (sad) of Game of Thrones, the HBO fantasy hit. We’ve gotten glimpses here and there of what should be an incredible set of episodes, but HBO dropped a full trailer on Tuesday that had social media buzzing.

Here’s a breakdown of what we saw in that trailer (and please, tell me if I missed anything key) previewing a season that’s reportedly supposed to include one of the greatest battle scenes ever put on a screen:

1. Arya is going into battle

This should be awesome. The other questions is: What’s she running from at the beginning of the trailer?

2. Is that Gendry making Valyrian steel?

We know that Valyrian steel is something that can kill white walkers, so Gendry will be a key to this season (also, he might have a good argument for the Iron Throne since he’s the son of Robert Baratheon).

3. Jaime joins the army of the living

We kind of knew he was headed in that direction and won’t side with his sister Cersei, who’s drinking wine and looking just peachy over what’s going on. That could set up the much-discussed possibility that the Kingslayer becomes a Queenslayer at some point.

4. Is Jon going to ride a dragon?

It looks like it? And by that point, will Jon Snow know he’s a Targaryen like Daenerys? Remember, Drogon was really nice to Jon last year when they met, indicating that the scaly beast knew something about his ancestry.

5. Say hello to The Golden Company

Remember what Cersei told Jaime about how she plans to defeat the army in the North? It was with mercenaries from Essos. Looks like this is a group of them.

6. The Battle of Winterfell is going to be unreal

Yep, that’s likely the horse belonging to The Night King, bringing his army of the very cold and undead to Winterfell. Welp.
