6 surprising stats for Cardinals, Rams

Rams’ offensive production has had a staggering drop

The Rams averaged 29.2 points per game in their first five games of the season, which was right in line with their offensive production in 2017 and 2018 when they won the NFC West. Since then, they are averaging 17.6 points per game in the last five games and 11.7 in their last three.

Cardinals and the blitz

Since Week 5, the Cardinals blitz on 37% of plays in the red zone. That is the highest rate in the NFL, with the league average being 14.9%.

They have blitzed on 28.2% of plays since Week 9, the third-highest rate in the NFL.

Jared Goff struggles against the blitz

Since Week 9, Jared Goff’s passer rating when blitzed is 37.6. That is the second-lowest rating among qualified quarterbacks.

No sacks in the red zone

The Arizona Cardinals have not recorded a sack in the red zone since Week 5. Rams quarterback Jared Goff has not been sacked in the red zone since Week 5.

Chandler Jones sackless vs. Rams

Jones has a league-leading 12.5 sacks this season. However, he has not recorded a sack against the Rams since 2017. He did not have a sack in either game in 2018 after having at least one sack in all four games against Los Angeles in 2016 and 2017.

Big play Kenyan Drake

Drake, now the No. 1 running back on the Cardinals on the depth chart, has produced big plays in the running game. Since joining the Cardinals in Week 9, he has gained at least 10 yards on more than 17% of his carries, which is the third-highest rate among qualified running backs in that time.

The Rams have allowed 10 yards or more on 14.7% of opposing team rushing attempts since Week 9, the seventh-highest rate in the league in that time.
