As they say, don’t fix what ain’t broke… just improve it??
The 6 Summer Shoe Trends For 2025
Ballet Flats

I used to hope that the resurgence of ballet flats was merely a micro trend and they’d disappear in the blink of an eye. Boy was I wrong… and thankfully so, because now I love a good flat.
Jade explained that ballet flats have established themselves as a longstanding fashion trend not only because of their sleek, feminine silhouette, but because they’re also super comfy.
“From mesh ballet flats to ones with a more pointe shoe inspired square satin toe, I love the variety of ballet flats that seem to continue to trend,” Jade said. Her personal favourites are these pink slingback ballet flats from Charles & Keith (currently on sale for $76, usually $93), and these jelly flats from Melissa ($149.95).

Sneakerina

Sneakerinas are a whole different ball park to ballet flats. These shoes have the girly look of ballet flats but come with the creature comforts of a sneaker.
“We saw [sneakerinas] en masse on celebs wearing the Puma Speed Cat Ballet Flats,” Jade pointed out.
And she’s not wrong. Dua Lipa, Rosé, Julia Garner and Emily Ratajkowski are some of the stars who have been spotted in the viral shoe from Puma. Other brands have released their own versions of the sneaker meets ballet flat, and people are lapping them up.
“Come this summer, I’m excited to see Adidas’ summer iteration of their sneakerina collaboration with Clot x Caroline Hú,” Jade said.

Low Profile Sneakers

Don’t get rid of your Adidas Sambas or Spezials just yet, because they’re not going anywhere. Low profile sneakers are sticking around for the summer as we continue to move away from the chunky dad sneaker.
“It all wraps into that shift into a more delicate, less chunky silhouette that dominated our feet for so many seasons (thank you Prada Monolith and Bottega Venetta Lug Chelsea boots),” Jade pointed out.

Thongs

I never thought I’d see the day where thongs weren’t just a summer slip-on shoe, but a sought after fashion trend?! The Row made thongs cool again, and now everyone can’t get enough. From the classic everyday flat to a more elevated leather thong sandal, the big toe separator is in hot demand.
Jade called it a “toes on show summer”.

Thong Heels

If you’re not convinced about a flat thong, can I tempt you with a heel? Thong wedges and kitten heels are set to be the go-to going out shoe of the summer.
“It’s a bit of a no brainer, bringing the thong in for summer,” Jade said. “It’s an easy way to add a casual elevation to your outfits.”

Woven Shoes

Lastly, Jade said that woven shoes are going to be a huge summer shoe trend, too. Last year, it was mesh flats that were all the rage, but it’ll be interlaced rattans, leathers, and all sorts of threads taking its place. There’s ballet flats akin to fishing nets, or ones that are more tightly woven if you don’t want your toes out on display for free. Either way, we don’t judge.

Those are the summer shoe trends we’re expecting to see everywhere as the weather continues to warm up. But of course, wear whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in.
