6 Rams stories from last week Cardinals fans should know

Another week has gone by and it is time to take a look around the NFC West to see what is new with the division rivals of the Arizona Cardinals. What is new with the Los Angeles Rams?

Here are the stories you should know.

WR Cooper Kupp participating in 11-on-11s

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams missed receiver Cooper Kupp the last half of the season after he tore his ACL in Week 10. He is making progress towards his return. In OTAs, he is already participating in 11-on-11 drills. This is good news, especially with the goal to be able to play Week 1 of the 2019 season.

Todd Gurley hasn’t done any on-field work, might not play preseason

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Rams are working to get Todd Gurley right. He has not yet done any on-field work in the offseason. He has not been in attendance for any OTAs, but he has been working with the team with a plan to get his knee right.

He might not even get any work in the preseason.

Gurley is a critical part of the Rams offense. If he doesn’t come back at full strength, it weakens their hold on the NFC West.

Rams counting on Brian Allen, Joseph Noteboom to start on O-line

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Rams must replace two starters on the offensive line after Rodger Saffold left in free agency and John Sullivan was cut. The Rams foresaw this coming, as they selected Allen and Noteboom in the 2018 draft. They are slated as the starters at left guard and center and don’t appear to have a ton of competition for the job.

Rams extend contract for CB Troy Hill

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Rams gave themselves a little stability at cornerback. They signed Hill through 2020. Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib are set to become free agents next year so this keeps them from having all three hit the market at the same time.

Michael Brockers loves having Aaron Donald at OTAs

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Donald was not a part of OTAs for the Rams in 2017 and 2018, when he was seeking a new contract. However, now that he got his huge deal, he is participating in OTAs this offseason. Teammate and fellow defensive lineman Michael Brockers loves having Donald there because he pushes the group to be better.

Why Micah Kiser is a good LB

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Rams must replace Mark Barron at linebacker. Kiser is expected to be that player next to Corey Littleton. Coach Sean McVay spoke about how Kiser isn’t the best athlete, but his tackling and instincts make him a good linebacker, which is why he should start for the Rams in 2019.
