The Arizona Cardinals have trimmed their roster and are in the process of making waiver claims. They have the top priority for any player they want. That means if they make a claim, they get the player, no matter who else wants him.
What positions will be the focus?
Offensive tackle

As of right now, the Cardinals have only one backup tackle in Joshua Miles, who is a seventh-round rookie out of a small school. That isn’t what you want to enter the season with.
Defensive line

Of the six players they have at the position, three are rookies. They might want a seventh on the roster or simply look to add someone with a little more experience, which could potentially bump undrafted rookie Miles Brown from the roster.
Outside linebacker

Pete Robertson had a fine training camp and preseason, but he is undersized and has only four NFL games of experience. The Cardinals could add someone at the position if they feel he has more upside.
Cornerback

As of now, the Cardinals have only three healthy cornerbacks on the roster. Robert Alford is expected to go on injured reserve. They will most certainly be adding at least one.
Safety

The Cardinals have two rookies as their backups. They like both Deionte and Jalen Thompson, but adding some experience to the position wouldn’t hurt. And if they can add a safety with some versatility to play some cornerback, that also might not hurt.
Running back

This position is not a great need but they could seek to add an upgrade over D.J. Foster. Foster can do a lot of things including play on special teams, but if there is someone with more athletic upside, they could replace him.
