Though the Baltimore Ravens have yet to have another player test positive for COVID-19 following Marlon Humphrey’s diagnosis, it doesn’t mean they’re out of the woods yet. Having played on Sunday, several of Humphrey’s teammates were undoubtedly within close contact with him while he was potentially contagious. To help keep a single case turning into a full-blown outbreak, Baltimore is expected to take some precautions.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Ravens are expected to place six players on the COVID-19/Reserve list because of their close contact with Humphrey. That doesn’t necessarily mean any of those players have caught the virus but there’s a hope that isolating them will keep COVID-19 from further spreading around the locker room.
Anyone designated as a high-risk close contact — which all six Ravens players are being designated as, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero — has to isolate for five days. If they continue to test negative and have no symptoms, they’d be cleared to return to the facility and practice or play in a game. In Baltimore’s case, all six players could be cleared to play in Sunday’s Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
It’s unclear which players are set to go to the COVID-19/Reserve list at this time.
