6 killed, 3 injured in road accident in Karnataka's Gadag district

GADAG: As many as six commuters of a Tata Sumo died, and 3 others got injured in a road crash in Naregal in Karnataka's Gadag district.

It’s said that a mishap occurred when a Gadag-Gajendragad NWKRTC bus collided with a Tata Sumo. Sumo passengers Shivakumar Kalashetti, 50, Chandrakala Kalashetti, 42, Rani Kalashetti, 32, all were residents of Madena Hipparagi village in Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district; Sachin Katti, 31, Drakshayani Katti, 33, were residents of Afzalpur in Kalaburagi district, died on the spot while Dingalesh Kalashetti, 05, succumbed to injuries in Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Gadag.

Three injured children Mahesh Katti, 11, Anita Katti, 05, and Allamaprabhu Kalashetti are admitted in GIMS Gadag. Some bus passengers also sustained minor injuries and they were treated at government hospital in Naregal.

Naregal police rushed to the spot and removed injured persons and bodies from the Tata Sumo. They sent injured person to Gadag and ascertained the identity of injured and deceased persons with the help of identity cards found in bags in the vehicle. Following the mishap, traffic was jammed for hours between Naregal and Gajendragad.

All commuters were said to be travelling to Shirahatti to visit Fakireshwar Math. As soon as the news was received, Fakir Dingaleshwar Swamiji visited the GIMS and enquired about health condition of three children.
