6 injured in mall shooting, including Boise, Idaho, police officer; suspect in custody

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Police Department said in a tweet that six people, including a police officer, were injured in a mass shooting at the Boise Towne Square mall on Monday afternoon.

Police said on Twitter shortly before 2:15 p.m. Mountain time Monday that officers were responding to reports of shots fired at the mall on Milwaukee Street.

The agency later said on social media that one person was in custody. And BPD said on Twitter that officers were going store by store at Boise Towne Square to clear each business, and that it had no information “indicating additional threats at this time.”

“It is expected to take a little while,” police said of clearing the businesses.

Paramedics removed at least one person from the building on a gurney, according to Idaho Statesman staff at the scene. The individual was taken out via a Macy’s store entrance.

Police have asked people to stay away from the area, where streets were blocked off Monday afternoon. Milwaukee Street was closed completely between Franklin and Emerald streets.

The Boise Towne Square mall is located at 350 N. Milwaukee St.
