6 Covid hotspots in Nottingham as cases surge across UK

Much of Nottingham has seen a steady rise in Covid infection rates following the relaxation of restrictions. Mass vaccination means that hospitalisation and death rates remain low, while the number of people catching the virus has risen 48% week on week.

The latest government data, which shows cases up to March 9, displays some areas of the city that have experienced sharp increases from the previous week. North Sherwood, for example, saw a rise of 41 cases - equating to 273 per cent, whilst Bulwell North rose by 43 (358.3%).

The most infectious area is currently Highbury Vale, which has a case rate of 817 per 100,000 people. Second highest is Bulwell North with 726.2.

In contrast, Hyson Green is the lowest with a case rate of 128.6, followed by Radford (152.7) and Forest Fields (154.5).
