Another week of the offseason is in the books, it is time for us to check in on the rest of the AFC West and see what is going on with the Kansas City Chiefs’ division rivals. Below you’ll find some of the top stories of the past week for the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.

Jerry Jeudy seen working out in Florida with an all-star group
“Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been training in Florida with free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown and former NFL receiver Terrell Owens. Denver Broncos rookie Jerry Jeudy joined them for one of their recent throwing sessions.”
Ignoring the NFLPA’s suggestion to avoid group workouts, Jeudy was seen in Florida working out with Dwayne Haskins, Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, and 7-time pro-bowler Antonio Brown. The highly anticipated rookie seems eager to get to work and could be a problem for the Chiefs if he learned few things from Brown and Owens.

Lloyd Cushenberry making strong impression on Broncos coaching staff
“The Denver Broncos will likely have a rookie starting center this season. Lloyd Cushenberry, who was selected by the team in the third round of this year’s draft, drew praise from offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur during the team’s virtual offseason program.”
The Broncos new offensive lineman is already making an impression on the team. His success will be vital for Denver as he will be tasked in protecting their young quarterback Drew Lock. If Cushenberry is successful along with the other young offensive pieces, the Broncos could quietly join the Chiefs as one of the NFL’s top offenses.

Henry Ruggs left from list to those projected to win Rookie of the Year
“Whether you agree with the selection or not, Henry Ruggs III was the first wide receiver selected in this year’s draft. The Raiders took him at 12 overall. His selection was not enough for SNF on NBC to include him in their impromptu question to fans as to who they think will win Offensive Rookie of the Year.”
Raiders top draft pick, Henry Ruggs, was left off an NBC poll asking fans who they thought would win the award. The list did include two other AFC West rookies including the Chiefs new running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire who looks to be already getting more attention than the 12th overall pick.

Raiders’ offensive line ranked No. 1 by Pro Football Focus
“In a recent article by Timo Riske of Pro Football Focus, he ranked the offensive lines in the NFL by how well they protect their respective quarterbacks when the quarterback holds onto the ball past three seconds. Sitting at the No. 1 spot was the Las Vegas Raiders.”
Las Vegas’ biggest strength going into the 2020 season will be their offensive line. The Chiefs were able to get five sacks in two games against the Raiders in 2019, but if Kansas City is unable to sign Jones before the season starts, they may struggle to get to Derek Carr.

Justin Herbert expected to suffer from shortened preseason
“However, he needs to improve his decision-making, eye discipline and overall consistency to succeed. In order for him to do that, Herbert must see live snaps. Rather than having four games, he will be limited to just half of that.”
Due to the shortened preseason, Herbert will be missing valuable snaps to challenge Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback. Unless the rookie quarterback impresses the Chargers coaching staff in practice the Chiefs will most likely be taking Taylor on Week 2.

Chargers show off new scoreboard at SoFi Stadium
“The jumbotron, which hangs over the field, weighs a whopping 2.2. million pounds and is 120 yards long, featuring 70,000 square feet of technology.”
The final touches to SoFi stadium are nearly complete including the addition of their new scoreboard. The Chiefs will visit Los Angeles in Week 2 for the Chargers home opener and hopefully putting them on the losing side of the scoreboard.
