Twenty-three new homes for vulnerable people will be built in Lake Macquarie through a $6.5 million investment for two housing projects.
Evolve Housing will receive $5 million to build 18 new homes in Morisset, which includes 14 social houses and four homes for people with disability, while a further $1.5 million will go to Aruma Services to deliver five disability group homes in Wyee, which will home 20 people.
The funding boost has been provided through the NSW Government's Community Housing Innovation Fund (CHIF).
Evolve Housing CEO Lyall Gorman welcomed the investment and said it would result in positive outcomes for tenants and the community alike.
"Inclusive and cohesive services are so important to provide residents with the support they require to sustain tenancies," Mr Gorman said.
Aruma CEO Andrew Richardson said the funding would deliver innovative housing approaches that respond to needs of people with disability.
