NEW DELHI: Playing in his 100th Test, Ravichandran Ashwin took 4/55 to rattle the England top order to put India close to an emphatic innings victory on the third day of the fifth Test in Dharamshala on Saturday.
England, who started their second innings trailing by 259, were 103/5 at lunch.
Ashwin took four wickets including skipper Ben Stokes, who was bowled for two at the stroke of lunch. Joe Root was batting on 34.
The off-spinner also bowled Ben Duckett for two, got Crawley caught at leg-slip for a duck and sent back Ollie Pope for 19.
In his 100th Test match, Jonny Bairstow tried to take on the spinners, hitting Ashwin for three sixes, but after hitting 39 off 31 balls, he was eventually dismissed leg before wicket by Kuldeep Yadav.
A "stiff back" kept captain Rohit Sharma off the field with vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah taking over.
Earlier, fast bowler James Anderson dismissed Kuldeep Yadav for his 700th Test wicket as England bowled out India for 477, with Spinner Shoaib Bashir completing a five-wicket haul.
