5G phone mast proposed for Cambuslang will be near local nursery

A 5G phone mast has been proposed for Cambuslang.
Telecoms giant EE have put forward a pre  planing consultation to install a new mast at Halfway Bowling Club, replacing the existing mast at the club.

However the proposal is likely to cause some concerns among locals, as it would be situated near the new nursery on Mill Road.

The education establishment was scheduled to open this August, however work has been halted during the coronavirus pandemic.

5G masts recently inspired an internet conspiracy theory that blamed the COVID-19 pandemic on the masts.

The technology will provide greatly increased data speeds to the area.

The current phase of the consultation, which was sent to councillors and community councils, will close on June 3.
