57-year-old pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Mount Vernon

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in the Mount Vernon area of Glasgow.

The 57-year-old man was crossing Mount Vernon Avenue, near to Sherburn Gardens at around 5.50pm yesterday when he was struck by a black BMW 4 series car.

Emergency services attended, but the pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old driver of the BMW was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and later released pending further enquiries.

A report on this incident will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Andrew Mair of the National Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who was driving on the road around the time who has dash-cam footage to get in touch as they may be able to provide further information that will assist the ongoing police investigation.

Anyone with information should contact Road Policing Officers at Helen Street through 101 quoting reference number 2797 of 4 December.
