55% increase in flights from Thiruvananthapuram airport

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has announced its summer schedule and it will have a 55% increase in flight services from March 27. There will be 540 weekly air traffic movements, while currently the number of flight services is 348.

The weekly flight departures to 14 international destinations will increase to 138 from existing 95. Sharjah tops the list with 30 departures. Doha (18), Muscat and Dubai (17 each) are the other prominent destinations. Bangkok, Salala, Hanimaadhoo (Maldives) are the new destinations in the list.

The weekly domestic flight departures to 12 destinations will go up to 132 from existing 79. There will be 28 departures to Bengaluru alone. Mumbai comes second with 23 departures. Kolkata, Pune, Durgapur are the new destinations in the domestic list.

The scheduled departures to international destinations are Sharjah 30, Doha 18, Dubai 17, Muscat 17, Abu Dhabi 11, Singapore 8, Male 7, Bahrain 7,Colombo 7, Kuwait 4, Riyadh 2, Hanimaadhoo 2 and Salalah 1.

The scheduled departures to domestic destinations include Bangalore 28, Mumbai 23, Chennai 14, Delhi 14, Hyderabad 14, Kolkata 7, Kochi 7, Pune 7, Kannur 7, Durgapur 7 and Calicut 4.
