54-year-old 'seriously injured' after being knocked down by car in Paisley as police appeal for witnesses

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 54-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries having being knocked down by a car in Paisley.

The 'serious road crash', involving the pedestrian and a grey Fiat Punto, took place on Inchinnan Road in Paisley on Friday night.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to be treated for his injuries.

A Police Scotland statement released today (Sunday) said: "Police Scotland is appealing for information following a serious road crash on Inchinnan Road, Paisley, on Friday, 25 October 2019.

"The incident happened around 9.15pm and involved a grey Fiat Punto and a 54-year-old male pedestrian. The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

"The road was closed until 6am on Saturday 26 October while police carried out their investigations."

Sergeant Nicola Taylor, of Glasgow's Road Policing Unit, added: "Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and at an early stage. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage which may help with our enquiries."
