Man to be charged with murder over death at Adelaide share house

SES crews searched the area this morning for any evidence.

Police expect to charge a 37-year-old man over the death of a man whose body was found in the backyard of a share house in Adelaide's inner south-west this morning.

Police and paramedics were called to a Mooringe Avenue home in North Plympton about 3:30am where they found a 52-year-old man dead in the backyard.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Fitzgerald said the man had serious head injuries.

"We understand at this stage that there was an altercation and an assault which resulted in this man passing," he said this morning.

"At this stage we are trying to identify if any other weapons were used in this assault but at this stage it is too early to determine."

He said about six people lived at the rental share house and all involved were assisting police with their inquiries.

"This man is known to police however we haven't had any recent interaction," he said.

"This is a share house where a number of people reside for shorter periods so police have come to this house on multiple occasions, however not in relation to this particular person."

Man arrested this afternoon

Police arrested a suspect this afternoon and expect to charge him with murder later today.

He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Billy Thompson said the victim and the arrested man knew each other and it was not a random incident.

Police called on anyone who may have heard or seen anything to contact Crime Stoppers.
