LUCKNOW: A 52-year-old personal secretary of an additional chief secretary of UP government allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself inside his office in Bapu Bhawan in Hazratganj on Monday.
Additional deputy commissioner of police, Central Zone, Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said that the personal secretary of additional chief secretary (urban development) Rajnish Dubey identified as Vishambhar Dayal attempted suicide using his licensed revolver.
The incident occured inside his office on eight floor of Bapu Bhawan.
"He reached office at around 1.30pm. At around 1: 45 other staff in office heard a gun shot and found that the office is closed from inside," said Sinha.
Sinha also said that police has recovered a suicide note written by the secretary from the spot.
"The secretary wrote in the suicide note that he is under stress due to ongoing dispute and cases lodged between his sister with her in-laws at Auras police station in Unnao district," added Sinha.
Sinha also said that probe of the case is being done by IG range lucknow, Laxmi Singh.
The condition of the secretary is said to be critical and admitted at KGMU Trauma center.
Police recovered a revolver from inside the office where the incident took place. The area has been cordoned off and forensic field units have been rushed to collect evidence from the spot.
