
The Hunter's daily COVID case total has halved in two days, with 51 new cases announced in Hunter New England on Saturday.
Eleven of the new Hunter cases were in Newcastle, 10 were in Cessnock, eight in Lake Macquarie, seven in Port Stephens, six each were in Maitland and Tamworth, two were from Mid North Coast and one was from Muswellbrook.
The case numbers have dropped from 103 on Thursday to 79 on Friday to the latest total of 51.
Of the new cases, 21 were infectious in the community, 22 were in isolation and eight are under investigation.
There are 26 cases currently being cared for in hospital, four of which are in ICU.
Thirty-four cases are linked, nine are unlinked, and eight are still under investigation.
The 51 new cases take the total number in the current outbreak to 2125. There are currently 1121 active cases.
There were 319 cases recorded across the state in the 24 hours to 8pm Friday.
The region had the second highest number of the state's health districts. South Western Sydney Local Health District had the most with 89.
Hunter New England Health have flagged more local testing sites at Morisset and Charlestown.
The Morisset 4Cyte Pathology Drive Thru Clinic at Morisset Golf Club will open Monday. The clinic will operate Monday to Friday 7.30am - 3.30pm, Saturday 7.30am - 12.00pm. No referral or appointment is required and testing is available for all ages including infants.
The Charlestown drive through testing clinic will operate at Charlestown Netball Courts carpark from Tuesday. It will be open seven days from 8am to 4pm. Appointments not required and it is open to all ages.
The health service has also added additional casual contact exposure sites to its list.
