Seibu Railway Co. began running a train featuring famous manga character Doraemon to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the start of the manga series' serialization.
The special train, dubbed Doraemon Go, is an eight-car train. The cars are wrapped in blue to remind people of Doraemon.
The front of the first car and some doors are also designed to look like the face of the character.
Pictures of his 4D pocket are printed on the seats, so passengers can feel as if they are sitting on Doraemon's knee.
The special train mainly runs on the company's Seibu Shinjuku Line, because the head office of the company that produces the Doraemon anime series is located on the line.
Seibu Railway President Kimio Kitamura said, "While there is a pessimistic mood in society due to the novel coronavirus, we want to let people dream with the help of Doraemon."
