50km police pursuit across Perth suburbs ends in collision

The vehicle was tracked by police for 50km before it crashed head on into oncoming traffic in Upper Swan.

A second police pursuit in 48 hours along the Great Northern Highway has resulted in a head-on collision.

The pursuit began after police spotted a vehicle that had been stolen from Bibra Lake on Christmas Day, doing burnouts in carpark off Reflection Boulevard in Jindalee around 11:30pm on Friday night.

The Police Air Wing then tracked the vehicle 50 kilometres from Marmion Avenue to Great Northern Highway, where the sedan crossed onto the wrong side of the Highway near West Swan Road before it crashed into an oncoming ute.

The 31-year old driver of the stolen sedan was arrested at the scene, but his passenger and the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The driver faces multiple charges including stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failing to stop and driving without a valid licence.

It was the second police pursuit in Upper Swan that resulted in a collision with another vehicle.

Police on Thursday night pursued two stolen vehicles along Great Northern Highway, until one of the cars drove down the wrong side of Roe Highway and smashed into a hatchback.
