Ireland's hospitals will remain "close to their limits" for the foreseeable future, the head of the HSE has warned.
Paul Reid made the warning today as 503 cases of COVID-19 were in Dublin hospitals as of 8pm last night, with 75 of those in ICU.
There were 12 ICU beds available in the capital, and a further 86 suspected cases were waiting for test confirmation.
While the figures have dropped, they are still quite high with 1,488 cases in hospitals across Ireland.
Mr Reid urged the public to "continue to protect" themselves and help frontline hospital staff in making progress to fight the curve.
He said: "The numbers of COVID-19 patients in hospital are reducing, now 1488. Our ICUs will remain close to their limits for some time yet. 210 in ICU & a further 310 receiving high acute care. Please continue to protect yourself & help our hospital teams make further progress."
