500 jobs up for grabs as delivery firm gears up for big Christmas surge

As the peak season for deliveries approaches, one the UK's largest same day distribution companies has announced it is recruiting more than 500 couriers.

The firm has earmarked Nottingham as a prime location for recruiting and says the new recruits will help to ease the increased pressure on the delivery network throughout peak season.

Mark Footman, chief operating officer at CitySprint, said: “With just over seven weeks to go until Christmas, businesses across sectors of all sizes are gearing up for the busiest time of the year.

"This year, with more people than ever shopping online, the pressure and demand this peak season is set to be even more acute. That is why we are bolstering our fleet numbers — allowing us to continue to deliver a first-class service to our customers and help them to stay ahead of their competitors and keep operations moving during Christmas."

The new couriers will add to CitySprint’s existing fleet of 3,500+ vans, bikes, and cars.

As well as specifically looking for a Nottingham workforce, couriers are needed across the UK.

The firm says the cities of Nottingham, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Medway, Norwich and Reading are all areas of interest with the business focusing primarily on small and large van couriers.

As Christmas approaches, delivery volumes spike and the firm says that consistent and smooth supply chains are even more crucial to ensure business continuity and success. This is of particular importance now — with Covid seeing the number of people shopping online skyrocket and, as a result, delivery volumes reaching their highest levels.
