500 food baskets delivered to families in need across Glasgow this Christmas

More than 400 volunteers gathered in Glasgow's southside to pack and deliver 500 baskets containing Christmas dinner items for families in need of extra support over the festive season.

Organised by Glasgow's first branch of Basket Brigade, the baskets will feed almost 2,000 people across the city and contain meat and vegetarian options.

Kyle McCormick, Project Manager, Glasgow NW Foodbank said: "Christmas is such a special time for families but it can also be very stressful if you are experiencing financial difficulty.

"We are extremely grateful for initiatives like the Glasgow Basket Brigade who will allow us to extend a helping hand to families in our region and I know the support is being rolled out across Glasgow which will have such a positive impact on so many families."

Louise Graham, who founded the Glasgow Basket Brigade branch, added: "We are hugely grateful to everyone who came along to help pack and deliver the baskets. Everyone banded together to create a real Christmas miracle for the families receiving the baskets, helping to spread the magic of the festive season across the city."
