50 pictures which show the events we've really missed in Liverpool so far in 2020

It's safe to say this year hasn't gone the way anyone planned with the majority of events, holidays and weddings cancelled.

The coronavirus outbreak saw the whole country placed into lockdown at the peak of the crisis, non essential shops were forced to close and people were told to leave their home only for an essential shop or one daily form of exercise.

This year's Grand National Festival was cancelled just three weeks before the event was due to take place. It was a disappointment for organisers and fans as 2020 was the year sporting history looked set to be made if Tiger Roll would have won his third consecutive race.

However, the public's health had to come first.

Aintree's Grand National festival was by no means the only event to be cancelled in the city this year.

Others included LIMF which was due to take place in Sefton Park, Pride in Liverpool's annual parade through the city centre and of course Liverpool fans missed out on seeing their team parade the Premier League trophy through the city.

And, while it was the right decision for these events to be cancelled or not organised at all, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, we've missed them all the same.

If you're feeling the same, we've pulled together a gallery of images showing events from previous years to show how Liverpool should have looked in 2020.
