AGARTALA: As many as 50 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) promising investment of nearly Rs 2,564 crore in various sectors in Tripura have been signed during the two-day Destination Tripura - Investment Summit 2021, which concluded on Friday, said industries and commerce minister Manoj Kanti Deb here on Saturday.
Claiming the first-ever investment to be a success, he said a large number of industrialists from across the country have shown an interest to invest in Tripura. "So far, MoUs envisaging investment of Rs 2,564 crore have already been signed and practically the figure will touch Rs 3,000 crore very soon".
He said the Tripura government is expecting investment in IT, tourism, rubber, education, agar and bamboo from industrialists. Once the investment starts coming into the state, it will create employment scopes for nearly 10,000 people in the next two years, Deb said. He added that the Tripura government has earmarked industrial zones in each of the 8 districts where new investors would be given space for starting business.
