50 more jobs being created by Premier Modular as it closes in on 300 headcount

Fifty more jobs are being created by an East Yorkshire off-site construction specialist as it enters a second recruitment drive in 2020.

Premier Modular is building up the team after an influx of new orders as it supports the NHS through the pandemic and capitalises on growing demand for emergency accommodation.

The Brandesburton team brought in 30 new faces in June as it helped build out additional hospital ward capacity, now it is seeking more than 40 joiners, a manager, team leaders and supervisor as it heads towards a 300 headcount.

David Harris, managing director, said: “Our unprecedented expansion continues which means we are hiring again!

“We have around 50 new vacancies following an influx of orders across a range of sectors including the NHS, residential, construction and infrastructure.

“This brings the total number of jobs we have created so far this year to more than 80.”

As reported, Mr Harris - who as an internal appointment took over as managing director in July - has plans to make Premier a £100 million turnover business in three years, up from £65 million now.

He took over from Eugenio de Sa, now executive chairman, with a strong focus on a sector of the construction industry tipped for big things.

Premier is part of global industrial services group Waco International, having been established in 1956. It is one several modular building firms that capitalised on available trades and timber import in post-War East Yorkshire, after Hull had been rebuilt from the blitz hammering it took.

The past week has seen Premier begin to deliver standalone Covid-19 testing centres in a multi-million pound contract, with 25 locations to be served by the end of next month.

Following a £7.5 million 58-apartment emergency accommodation contract win with Buckinghamshire Council this summer, it has also just sealed a deal with Barking and Dagenham to provide a 20-unit build there, a £1.5 million order via Jerram Falkus.
