RATCHABURI: About 50 houses in three villages in Ban Kha district of this western Central province were damaged after being hit by summer storms on Friday and Sunday.

Tharat Luangsa-ard, the Ban Kha district chief, said about 20 houses at Moo 1, Moo 5 and Moo 15 villages in tambon Nong Phan Chan were damaged when a summer storm swept over them on Friday.

Another 30 houses in the three villages were damaged by another storm on Sunday, bringing the total number of damaged houses to 50.

Most of the damage was to the roofs. Several poorly-constructed houses were totally destroyed and several trees uprooted.

Two villagers were injured, one seriously, after being hit by flying broken roof tiles.

Nong Phan Chan tambon administration organisation (TAO) has inspected the damage in order to provide assistance to the affected villagers, Mr Tharat said.
