A woman tries to save time on meal prepping by ordering the Chipotle Build-Your-Own burrito catering set, which is supposed to serve up to six people. However, she says she was shocked to see the tiny portions she recieved in the bag.
In a video with over 256,000 views, TikToker Gabriela (@gabisartoretti) stands in her kitchen after picking up her order.
“Every video that I’ve seen of this, the containers and the portions are heaping,” she says. “I don’t know if that’s a marketing ploy that Chipotle has done with certain creators.”
How much food did Chipotle give her in her catering order?
First, Gabriela holds up a container of shredded cheese. A thin layer of the cheese covers the bottom of the black plastic tupperware.
“Mind you, this meal is supposed to be able to make four to six bowls,” she says. “This amount of cheese they put on one [expletive] bowl.”
She opens up the container of lettuce, which sits loosely in the box.
“I get it, but you can pack the container filled with the lettuce,” she laments. “Don’t be stingy. It’s pissing me off.”
However, the TikToker says she was most upset by the chicken portions.
“The whole point of me getting this meal is for the protein,” she says.
Gabriela holds up the chicken container, which only contains a thin layer of the meat. The container of rice also contained just enough for about two bowls.
She says she tried to call the store, but couldn’t reach any workers. Instead, an automated message asks her to leave a review.
“I just want to get the correct amount of food so I don’t have to cook after I just spent $50,” she says at the end of the clip.
Instead, she emails Chipotle’s customer service. In a follow-up video, she rants that they only offered her one free entree to make up for the small portions in her catering order.
She posts one more update in which Chipotle sends her a direct message about her video. They ask for her email so they can “make things right.” After she gives them her email attached to her rewards account, Chipotle says it will give her “two free entrees.”
What did customers say about Chipotle’s portions?
In the comments of Gabriela’s TikTok, several viewers point out that Chipotle has previously come under fire for skimping on portions. Chipotle shareholders even sued in 2024 over the skimping claims as many customers went viral for sharing the measly portion sizes workers gave them, according to Reuters.
Others say they also recieved small portions when ordering the catering set.
“No, you got more than we did! 2 adults and 4 kids. Not enough for our family. We can all order for $10 more and get way more!” one commenter writes.
“I hatttteeeee chipotle for this very reason and EVERYTIME i order online my food is wrong and they just offer me a free drink,” another says.
“Yessss thank you! We did this two weeks ago ans barely got four small portions! We came to the conclusion its a better deal to just go four times and its about the same price but at least you know its a good portion!” a third shares.
