LUCKNOW: After a rap from Allahabad high court over lackadaisical and casual approach by authorities over noise pollution caused by modified silencers, hooters and pressure horns, Gomtinagar police carried out a crackdown on Thursday and Friday. As many as 30 bikes with modified silencers were seized by police and over 50 persons were penalised.
ACP Gomtinagar Shweta Srivastava said that using CCTVs, police tracked areas where movement of such bikes was high and later carried out extensive crackdown.
“Shops where such silencers are modified were also traced and fined,” she said. The officer also said that at all main crossings in Gomtinagar, a drive against those plying with modified silencers will be carried out in the coming week as well. She also said that in the next phase, action against those using hooters will be taken.
