Saudi-British Joint Business Council (SBJBC) held a meeting on business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the presence of about 50 British companies which confirmed their readiness to contribute to the implementation of joint projects and transfer of technology and expertise to their Saudi counterparts.
The meeting, held in London, was also attended by a number of representatives of economic, governmental and private sectors to promote investments in the fields of education, renewable energy and creative industry in the Kingdom.
The meeting discussed business opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for companies, businessmen, exporters, importers and investors.
Omar bin Rabhan of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) gave a visual presentation on the implementation of Vision 2030 program and reforms to attract global investment.
At the meeting, representatives of the education, renewable energy, creative and technical industries discussed business opportunities available in both countries, while a number of British companies praised Vision 2030 and its attempts to facilitate investments in Saudi Arabia and provide promising opportunities for all.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Arabia's Commercial Attaché, Bandar Reda, who called for more commercial cooperation between the two countries.
Representatives of the financial, legal and business sectors in Saudi Arabia held a session to discuss exportation to Saudi Arabia and investment and support for these activities in the Kingdom.
Co-Chairmen of the Council Nasser al-Mutawa and Baroness Symons discussed business opportunities in Saudi Arabia and its support being provided for companies, businessmen, exporters, importers and investors.
Mutawa told Asharq al-Awsat that the Council is in the process of organizing events that include British mission’s visit on technology and smart cities to Riyadh in November.
This will coincide with the upcoming roundtable meetings on privatization programs and the partnership between private and public sector, as well as the Council’s upcoming meeting in Riyadh to review recent initiatives and identify other opportunities for cooperation.
The British delegation was impressed by the transparent procedures recently adopted by Saudi Arabia to attract investments and achieve Vision 2030.
Vice Chairman of the Business Council Hashem al-Awadhi proposed cooperation to establish a Saudi-British technical complex that enables Saudi start-ups to work and exchange expertise with British companies to develop technologies important to Saudi economy and market.
Awadhi pointed to the various financial institutions in Saudi Arabia which can provide financial and logistical support.
