5 years ago today: Aaron Rodgers lights up Bears with 6 first-half TD passes

Five years ago today, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers put together one of the most dominant first-half passing performances in the history of the NFL.

The soon-to-be NFL MVP threw six touchdown passes on Nov. 9, 2014, including four in the second quarter, powering the Packers to a 42-0 first-half lead over the visiting Chicago Bears on “Sunday Night Football” at Lambeau Field.

Rodgers tossed touchdown passes to Brandon Bostick, Andrew Quarless, Jordy Nelson (twice), Eddie Lacy and Randall Cobb.

Nelson caught a 70-yard score, Lacy rumbled 56 yards on a screen pass and Cobb hauled in a terrific one-handed catch to end the half.

Relive the incredible performance below:

Overall, Rodgers completed 18-of-27 passes for 315 yards and the six scores.

He tied the NFL record for touchdown passes in a single half. At the time, the Packers’ 42-0 lead was the second-biggest half-time lead in league history.

Rodgers was replaced in the third quarter and didn’t throw a second-half touchdown pass, but the Packers still went on to win comfortably, 55-14.
