Police fire shots pursuing suspects in killing of boy, 17

Jan. 08--A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Brighton Park on the South Side, sparking a police chase during which an officer fired at a suspect, Chicago police said. No one was reported hit.

The teen was with a group in the 3100 block of West 41st Place when someone in a white SUV fired shots around 10:25 p.m., according to Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman. The teen was hit several times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
