While Galacta does say “pick your hero or villain, I’m not judging” during character selection in Marvel Rivals, how many villains are really available for players to choose? As of Season 8–which adds Devil Dinosaur and Cyclops for a roster of 50 characters–not too many. Even then, only a handful are true villains (Hela, Magneto, and Ultron), while most sit on the border of anti-hero (Loki, Namor, Venom, and Emma Frost to name a few).
Here are our top five villains that need to join Marvel Rivals sooner than later.

Doc Ock

It’s difficult to not simply say the entire cast of Spider-Man enemies should join Marvel Rivals (though really, they should). While any member of the Sinister Six would be a clear contender, Doc Ock is at the top of the list, with Green Goblin in a close second. His unique assets – four mechanical tentacles – could be used for any number of abilities, though ideally in the Vanguard category.
You can never have too many tanks in Rivals, and Doc Ock would be a welcome member of their ranks. His long comic history combined with his relationship with Spider-Man would make for an interesting character with a huge variety of skins.
Morgan le Fay

Sorcery is an important type of power in Marvel Comics, but one that’s slightly underrepresented in Marvel Rivals. Adding Morgan le Fay would solve this issue, and add to the growing niche of magic-wielding villains like Loki and Hela.
Based on the Arthurian legend, the Marvel Comics version of le Fay is an immortal half-faerie, who has served as a major antagonist for multiple heroes since the 1950s by using the mystic arts in both the real world and the astral plane. With a hugely diverse skill set due to her magic use – including teleportation, illusions, time travel, and necromancy – le Fay could be used to do practically anything in Marvel Rivals (which would certainly make her an interesting support character bringing the dead back to life).
Bullseye

Terrifyingly accurate with all weapons and certifiably insane, Bullseye would bring the sort of unhinged evil energy that Marvel Rivals needs in its villain roster. Beyond the obvious synergy with recent MCU projects – which have elevated Bullseye into one of the MCU’s most intriguing antagonists – Bullseye simply makes a lot of sense as a Duelist.
His pure precision in turning any available object into a lethal weapon would lend well to a mid to long-range character. He could be given any object to use, though a series of small knives or even pens would likely be his weapon of choice. Having a villain that’s completely off his rocker would add some interesting spice to the Marvel Rivals lineup.
Mystique

With around 50 characters now in Marvel Rivals, it’s almost surprising that one of comic book’s most iconic antagonists still hasn’t joined the game. Best known to the world through the Fox films, Mystique has spent decades butting heads with the rotating main cast of the X-Men.
The blue-skinned, red-haired shapeshifter has a lot of potential as a combatant on the battlefield, as beyond her powers to take the appearance and voice of anyone, she’s a deadly fighter. NetEase would be remiss to not include one of the most impactful female characters in comic book history.
Scream

Scream has received some attention recently due to her appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (and decades of exposure in The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride at Universal Studios Orlando). While she is a less popular symbiote than a character like Carnage, and would be yet another wall-crawler in Marvel Rivals like Spider-Man and Venom, she does have a very novel ability that could be a lot of fun in the game (especially for team-ups).
By using her hair as a weapon, Scream could have some interesting abilities in Marvel Rivals. Attacking enemies at range, wrapping them up with her hair, and twipping across the map could all be potential powers, making Scream a very useful dive character similar to other web-slingers.
