It's safe to say it was a manic day at Celtic with the appointment of a new skipper on the eve of a vital Champions League tie.
Midtjylland lie in wait and their first session since touching down in Scotland actually took place at their opponent's Parkhead home.
But it was all action in Lennoxtown as Ange Postecoglou put his team through their paces to make sure they're ready for everything Erik Sviatchenko's Danes have to throw at them.
Postecoglou was busy off the grass too as he explained Leigh Griffiths will be part of his plans this season and admitted the club could have been quicker off the mark when the starter's gun blasted for transfer season.
And amidst all of that the club learned who they'll play if they get past Tuesday's foes: PSV Eindhoven or Galatasaray.
Here are five things we noticed from this morning by the Campsies.
Captain's corner

Callum McGregor has been named the new skipper after Scott Brown's summer departure. An easy decision for Postecoglou, in a job where there aren't too many of them and especially in this tender stage of the rebuild. McGregor has been the de facto leader of the group for some time now but today's announcement rubber-stamps it and he's got a job on his hands just as the manager does. Keeping a dressing room together with so many big outgoings and unfamiliar replacements is no easy task but he's respected for good reason given his clear ability on that park. And he was seen in deep discussions with team-mates such as Greg Taylor throughout.
James race

James Forrest was back on the training pitch but there are question marks over whether he'll be deemed fit to play Midtjylland on Tuesday night. The rationale is that one European qualifier missed, while important, is preferable to the vast swathe of action he was forced to skip last season as the team crumbled in his absence. He jumped the hurdles literally on the grass but his manager and fans will hope the wide man has cleared the worst of his injury problems.
Postecoglou ponders

Once again, on Monday the manager made a public call for more incoming players and this time revealed Celtic "hesitated on a few things". His frank nature in interviews gave Postecoglou an initial popularity bump among fans but now it's easy to feel worried for the Australian. Things by his own admission haven't moved quick enough and here we are on the eve of a Champions League qualifier, contemplating how many under-21s in defence is too many. In his very first day in front of the media, Postecoglou spoke of an "urgency" in a few positions with this match in mind. Three-and-a-half weeks later he has made three signings – and one was still playing for his now former club over the weekend. Without his own assistants or coaches of choice Postecoglou cuts a lonely figure on the Lennoxtown turf and a result of any kind tomorrow would be terrific in the circumstances.
Cometh the hour?

Last season his shoot-first tendency frustrated some supporters but there's no denying that when Ryan Christie is on his game he can be a real difference maker. That was the case when three years on the fringes disappeared when his magical performance off the bench against Hearts paved the way for him to become a mainstay in the team for years. Even in his worst campaign since he popped up with two mirror image strikes at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semi-final and final while fitting in a historic goal for Scotland weeks earlier. It's not yet known how his curious contract situation will be resolved but tomorrow night is a chance to wipe the slate clean with a new manager or, if he does opt to leave, give the home fans one last big memory.
Raring to go

It seems uncertain if new wide man Liel Abada will definitely feature tomorrow night. Postecoglou was very guarded on that issue at the weekend while it transpired he was registered as a trialist for the Preston friendly. Now, with the publication of squad lists for the Champions League, Abada features nowhere on Celtic's. He featured for only half an hour against the English opposition and his manager was clear it was no audition of any kind for the midweek action to come, perhaps cognisant of an issue preventing that from happening. But a penny for Abada's thoughts if he does have to watch on and things don't go to plan? He certainly looks fit and raring to go as attacked the day's session.
