5 things we spotted at Celtic training as Kyogo Furuhashi steps up injury return with blink and you'll miss it cameo

The fixture list is in full throttle and it's a chance for the Celtic forgotten men to make their first-team case.

For most the defeat to Livingston will still be fresh in their mind as they continue to struggle away from Celtic Park.

Raith Rovers will arrive in Glasgow's east end as massive underdogs, and it could give Ange Postecoglou a chance to shake up his squad for the clash.

The likes of Giorgos Giakoumakis has yet to pull on the green and white since his summer arrival, and the likes Osaze Urhoghide all-but forgotten since signing from Sheffield Wednesday.

And could there be some more returns with Kyogo Furuhashi still a big miss for the side?

No doubt it will come down to what they have shown on the training ground going into the game - and if they have caught the eye of new sport science coach Anton McElhone.

Here are 5 things we spotted from his Wednesday session in Glasgow.

Kyogo ready to go?

It's one you need to zoom in for, but he's back.

Kyogo Furuhashi looks to be stepping up his return to the Celtic.

The Japanese international has been on the sidelines with a knee injury while playing for his county in China, but if you look closely he is training away from the squad.

Over David Turnbull's shoulder, the forward is hard at work as he steps up his first team return.

His original return timeline was a month, but could he beat that in the coming weeks after this run out?

A new face at Lennoxtown

Anton McElhone made himself at home having been unveiled as the as the club’s new head of sport science.

The former Tottenham fitness coach joins the Parkhead club after a spell as Morton manger last season, taking over for Jack Nayler who left Celtic in June to join German side RB Leipzig.

He was straight to work alongside Postecoglou and John Kennedy as the side gear up for the cup clash.

He was snapped speaking to Stephen McManus as he gets to grips with his new position.

Making a case

The lesser spotted Osaze Urhoghide is back on the scene at Celtic.

He is yet to taste first-team competitive action for the club following his summer arrival from Sheffield Wednesday, but was spotted back with the first-team.

Urhoghide has been limited to minutes for the B team and was training with the Colts, but could be in the running for a spot in the side in the Premier Sports Cup after appearing at Lennoxtown.

After his run out will he be able to work his way into Ange Postecoglou's plans?

The Ange effect

Giorgos Giakoumakis adjustment to life in Scotland will no doubt have been made easier by Ange Postecoglou.

The Greek striker was pictured enjoying training under the Greek-born Australian boss ahead of his potential debut in the cup.

Postecoglou has confirmed he is in line for his debut against the Championship side following his move from Dutch side VVV Venlo.

McCarthy in focus

After a poor first start for Celtic, James McCarthy's move to Parkhead is coming under increasing scrutiny.

The midfielder looked off the pace against Livingston before being hooked by Postecoglou.

Will the Ireland cap be able to keep up with the demands and stamina that the boss is demanding from his players?

He was back to work at Lennoxtown as he looked to impress his gaffer with his fitness at training.
