5 things we noticed from inside Liverpool's Champions League final training camp

Liverpool are in training in Marbella ahead of the biggest game of their season - the Champions League final against Tottenham.

The Reds squad have been soaking up the glorious Spanish sun all week, working hard, and of course enjoying some local cuisine.

On Thursday the squad dined out after a training session before returning to the gym to work on their fitness. Here are five things we noticed from the lunchtime break.

1. Safe hands, even at lunchtime

He's Liverpool's man mountain between the sticks.

He's the club's safe pair of hands - the goalkeeper who kept a staggering 21 clean sheets in the Premier League this season.

And it turns out he also takes hygiene very seriously.

So seriously in fact that he opted to wear gloves - fortunately not goalkeeping ones - while piling salad onto his plate this Thursday lunchtime. Brilliant.

2. He's happy to be back in the mix

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been out with an ACL injury for a LONG time now.

But he's back in the mix ahead of the final.

"After crutching my way around the pitch last year, it's nice to be in this situation," the midfielder said on Thursday.

"Dreams are made of maybe having some part to play in Madrid, but it's not about me – it's about making sure whoever is on the pitch does the job for the club and for the team.

"If I can be involved, that would be amazing, but just to be around it and be fit and healthy again is good for me as well at the minute. I've not been able to get loads of minutes, but I am happy to just come back."

Oxlade-Chamberlain celebrated being back with some fancy sunglasses.

3. "This is salad, right?"

Dejan Lovren.

He's the Liverpool defender who often splits opinion, but his heart is definitely in the right place.

On Thursday he opted for a healthy lunch consisting of mostly salad.

Although looked slightly confused as he piled greens onto his plate, narrowly avoiding the potted plant - that rather blended in with the salad - hanging over the table.

4. Meat for the big man

Jurgen Klopp looked his usual cool, clam and collected self on Thursday.

But despite his casual demeanour, the German certainly has an heir of authority about him - which the kitchen staff picked up on.

As the Liverpool boss walked to the buffet, passing Alisson in his fancy gloves, passing Lovren frowning at an iceberg lettuce, he made a beeline for the MEAT.

And well, was given a rather big slab of it, if we do say so ourselves.

5. Pile it on Jordan, pile it on

And finally, to Jordan Henderson.

While the other Liverpool players politely wandered about the buffet forking tiny bits of salad onto their plates, Hendo had other ideas.

Forget small portions, forget rabbit feed, the England international channelled his home nation and piled grub onto his plate like he was in an all you can eat buffet.

Well, he is club captain after all.
