5 things we learned from MTV’s new ‘The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2’ trailer

When we last left MTV’s The Challenge — the best sports league that isn’t considered a sports league but should be! — Turbo defeated Theo, Cara Maria, Wes and others to win $1 million after the hardest finale in the reality competition series’ history.

Now, there’s a sequel to War of the Worlds, (it’s called War of the Worlds 2) and it’s set to premiere on Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. ET. On Friday, the official trailer for Season 34 of the show dropped, and we learned so much in a little bit of the footage we saw.

Here’s a breakdown of what we saw in the minute-long look at this coming season:

1. It’s a team event!

This is SUPER exciting and smart because of what we saw last season. The British alliance was strong, and we saw teams of mostly Americans fail to unite when it counted. There hasn’t been a full team vs. team Challenge in a decade, so this will make for some new drama.

2. Jordan and Laurel are back

Jordan was champion of XXX: Dirty 30, a second title after he won Battle of the Exes II. He hasn’t been on since.

Laurel was last on Invasion of the Champions, and I’m super pumped to see both of the all-time greats back.

3. Turbo, CT and some others aren’t on a team, but they’re part of the game

Per an MTV release, the winning team in the premiere can pick from “reinforcements” — Turbo, CT, Dee and Ninja Natalie. How does that work? No idea. But that’s intriguing.

4. CT gets into it with someone

I think that’s Josh?

It’s been a while since we’ve seen him get aggressive like that.

5. Johnny Bananas gives a toast
