5 things to watch for when Broncos face Bills on ‘Monday Night Football’

The Denver Broncos are set to make a 1,500-mile journey to Orchard Park, New York to play the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10. Here are five big things to watch in this big prime-time game.

1
Can Russell Wilson go over 100 yards passing?

(Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports)

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has thrown for as many touchdowns as he did last year in half the time. Yet, he still seems to be holding onto the ball way too long, and his passing yards have been underwhelming. He has thrown for less than 200 yards in four of the last five games, including a 95-yard performance in Week 6. If he can be a threat in the passing game, the running game can be more productive.

2
Pound the running game

(Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports)

Running backs Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Samaje Perine have been extremely successful when the Broncos have focused on the rushing attack. Sean Payton’s offense depends on the success of the ground game, and if Denver can begin strong, they could do some real damage to the Bills’ defense.

3
Turnovers

(Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports)

The Broncos defense and special teams unit are coming off a five-turnover game against the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the most explosive units in the NFL. If they can replicate that effort against the Bills, they can absolutely win. Winning the turnover battle will be essential against another explosive offense.

4
Staying healthy

(Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports)

The Broncos come into this game against the Bills at 100 percent strength. In order to make the rest of this season competitive, they will need to remain healthy. Several star players have missed games due to injury, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Coming out healthy through this game and the rest of the season will be key to their success.

5
Playing a complete game

The Broncos have played too many incomplete games, leading to blown leads and playing from behind. Denver played their first complete game of the season against Kansas City, and in order to win this extremely important road game, they will need to put together a complete game on offense, defense and special teams.
