Many retailers have big sales in January on items that people may want or need for their homes. In fact, some post-holiday sales are even better than Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.

Here are five items to buy after the holidays that will actually help people save money

New Linens

January is one of the best times to purchase new household linens, such as pillowcases, towels, comforters, and sheets. For consumers considering buying one of these items as a holiday gift, try to hold off until January to save a significant amount of money. Most big-box stores and large online retailers will have sales on these items.

Fitness Equipment

Many stores will have discounts on wellness items in the new year. That’s because many people set New Year’s resolutions to get fit and work out. So, consumers can save big on gym memberships, workout equipment, yoga mats, and even other wellness items like lotion, sunscreen, vitamins, and personal care products. For consumers who regularly take vitamins, January can be a good time to stock up.

Baking Supplies

Stores increase their stock of baking supplies during the holidays. However, once the holidays are over, consumers can purchase items such as flour, sugar, nuts, spices, chocolate chips, and cooking oil at discounted prices. The good news is that many of these have a very long shelf life. So, bakers can buy cooking oils and other essentials that can last for several months.

TVs and Other Electronics

The Super Bowl is in early February, and many stores will run significant discounts on televisions, speakers and other products. In fact, many retailers offer larger discounts on electronic items in January than on Black Friday. For those in the market for computers, video game controllers, monitors, and more, those items will also be on sale in January.

Winter Clothing

After the holidays, stores tend to put winter clothes on sale. Even though winter lasts for a few months into the new year, stores have to make room for spring inventory. So, for shoppers who need winter boots, gloves, and even ski equipment, purchasing them in January can often save money.
