6 takeaways from Antonio Brown’s Twitter Q&A

On Saturday afternoon, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown took to Twitter to clear the air, so to speak. And he did it in the most Antonio Brown way of all. By doing a Q&A with his Twitter followers. Brown answered six fan questions and we are going to give you our takeaway from each one.

This perceived lack of respect is interesting. These are two guys who have been very close during their career but if calling him out publicly is what Brown is talking about, it’s puzzling. Ben Roethlisberger offered one point of criticism of Brown all season publicly. One. And honestly, it wasn’t even a huge criticism. But this is what happens when you have these huge, fragile egos of players who have been coddled their entire career. Even the slightest hint of criticism is too much.

Does the commitment to win relentlessly mean playing all 16 regular-season games? Just wondering. No one is denying Brown’s work ethic or passion. But it’s hypocritical to say this after quitting on your team.

Brown wasn’t willing to name any names as far as his next team. Not sure what the tangent about his upcoming meeting with team President Art Rooney II was all about but the fact is it doesn’t matter where Brown wants to play. If the Steelers do trade him, they will control his destiny.

We aren’t sure what this means. He loves the fans but is he saying there is no more love? Again, if he stays with the Steelers, it’s because the team chooses not to trade him. He has no control over this.

All we know about the days leading up to Brown not playing against the Bengals is what we’ve been told. Depending on what side of it you want to believe, Brown gave up on his team because of an argument in practice with Roethlisberger or that head coach Mike Tomlin treated Brown unfairly while he was dealing with injuries. Believe whatever side you want. But missing the postseason ultimately wasn’t impacted by Brown’s absence that week.

Here Brown attempts to take the high road over previous comments. Look, no one likes all this backbiting to the media. But I think it is fair to assume if a situation gets so bad any player feels the need to address it publicly, it is likely the result of attempts in private falling on deaf ears.
