Mohamed Bamba has committed to Texas.
The McDonald's All-American announced via The Players' Tribune on Thursday that he has decided to attend Texas.
Texas coach Shaka Smart has scheduled a press conference after receiving Bamba's scholarship paperwork on Thursday.
"Coach Smart understood from day one that I'm someone who is looking to make a profound impact, both on and off the court," Bamba said in a press release from UT. "The more I learned about The University of Texas and the city of Austin, the more I realized this was an ideal platform for me to pursue my many goals."
The 7-foot, 216-pound forward was the No. 2-rated player by 247 Sports after a standout prep career at Westtown School in Pennsylvania. Bamba, a New York City native, trimmed his list to Texas, Michigan, Duke and Kentucky earlier this year. Bamba averaged 12.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game, while leading Westtown School to a 32-2 record and a state championship.
"I'm extremely excited that Mo has chosen Texas," Smart said in the release. "He's as unique a person and player as I've been around. Mo's combination of talent, intellect and ability to impact others will make him a catalyst in our program and on our campus from day one."
With Bamba's commitment, Texas' top-10 recruiting class now ranks fourth in the nation. This also makes back-to-back years that Texas has landed a 5-star recruit. Last year, McDonald's All-American Jarrett Allen picked Texas.
Bamba joins 4-star guards Matt Coleman and Jase Febres and 4-star forwards Jericho Sims and Royce Hamm as part of a massive five-player recruiting haul for third-year coach Smart.
"Mo's personality and dynamic skill-set fit extremely well with the other members of our incoming class as well as our returning players," Smart said in the press release. "I'm very excited about our team composition and the way in which our guys will complement each other. There's no question that Mo will make everyone around him better, both on and off the court."
