5-star prospect Emoni Bates taking unofficial visit to MSU next weekend

Ypsilanti, Michigan’s Emoni Bates is by far the most interesting prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, and possibly the most interesting prospect in the next five years. He has already been compared to players like Kevin Durant for his next-level scoring ability (and thin frame) at a young age. He has been linked to Michigan State for a while, and Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers just reported about two hours ago that he will be taking an unofficial visit to Michigan State next weekend.

Michigan State has already offered the 6-foot-8 forward a scholarship and 247sports currently has the Spartans as having a 50% chance at landing his commitment with Kentucky receiving the other 50%. He also visited Michigan this past weekend.

There is one fairly significant caveat with any talk surrounding Emoni Bates: it is possible that he could become the first player to go straight to the pros since the NBA last changed the one-and-done rule. In fact, if they do change the rule by 2022, Bates will likely be the center of that conversation.

As of right now, Michigan State seems to be in a good position to land Bates if he does go to school, and that’s good enough for me right now.
