5-star Ohio State RB target Bijan Robinson now reportedly leaning away from Ohio State

As of this morning, there appears to be a glitch in the Buckeye recruiting Matrix. According to a report from Eleven Warriors, the Ohio State coaching staff was notified that five-star running back Bijan Robinson is now looking elsewhere.

It has long been thought that the Arizona native was a near lock to join the Ohio State program when he announces on August 2, but Texas seems to be closing in and now has the upper hand. This appears to be a very decisive and quick turn about based on everything that was known up until now, and — if true — puts the Buckeye program in a precarious position as it relates to the running back position for the 2020 class.

That’s because as of right now, Ohio State doesn’t have a single running back recruit in the fold for 2020, and we all know this could be the last season for J.K. Dobbins. What’s behind him is unproven at this point, at a position that historically shows wear and tear, not to mention attrition.

There’s still another four-star target that was an Ohio State lean, Jaylan Knighton, but he was convinced to attend a recruiting event at in-state school Florida State this weekend just a few days prior to his announcement. And … by the way, the Crystal Ball Predictions on 247Sports for him have also shifted to Florida State.

There are other options like Emmit Smith’s son, E.J., that are still out there which we’ll have more on later, but right now, the news of Robinson’s change of heart has to be a pretty big deal to the coaching staff. It, in combination with Knighton’s flirting with the Seminoles has to be keeping Ryan Day up at night.

Ohio State has just a few days to try and sort it all out in the wild west culture that is big-time college football recruiting. Stay with us for more on this as it becomes available.
