Arik Gilbert, the highly coveted five-star tight end, has finally made a decision. The Marietta High School prospect will be suiting up for LSU next season, after many had originally speculated he would be headed to Athens or Tuscaloosa.
Gilbert was originally thought to be a Georgia lean, though Alabama gained a lot of steam during the summer. However, LSU appeared to have made the biggest jump and eventually secured a commitment from the five-star.
A Woodward Academy War Eagle turned Marietta Blue Devil, Gilbert is ranked No. 10 in the nation for 2020 and No. 1 at the tight end position.
In the end, Gilbert chose the Tigers over Georgia, Alabama, Clemson and Texas A&M, who were put into his Top 5 on Tuesday.
However, it really was a two-team race until the finish.
