5-star Georgia recruit wins DL MVP at The Opening, planning visit to UGA

Korey Foreman is a 5-star defensive end in the class of 2021 out of Corona, California.

Foreman, a rising junior, is considered the No. 2 player at his position for 2021, however, nerves still arose this week at The Opening in Frisco, Texas.

But for Foreman, those nerves were welcomed. After completely dominating the competition in one-on-one drills at the event, which included upperclassmen as well as players his age, Foreman was awarded defensive line MVP honors.

“Everyone had the mindset to come out and dominate here, but I was really nervous,” Foreman told Jason Jordan of USA Today High School Sports. “I play better like that. It’s like running scared; you tend to run faster when you’re scared. When I have those nerves, I play better.”

According to 247 Sports, the Trojans are currently considered the favorite to land the  6’4″ 245 pound recruit, but Foreman made it clear that no school held an edge for him at the moment.

“I don’t even like looking at sites that say that I’m 100 percent going to a certain school,” Foreman said. “I have never said anything like that, I’m not leaning anywhere, and I couldn’t even imagine putting a list together from greatest to least. I’m just enjoying the process because it’s possible.”

Foreman told Jordan that he has only visited west coast schools to this point, but has plans to visit Georgia, Alabama, LSU and possibly Clemson later this month.

There’s plenty of time for Georgia to win over the No. 5 player in the country, as Foreman said he does not plan on making a decision until January of 2021.
